Is Jesus the Answer?

This is part 1 of 2 of Lesson 3: “Called to Discipleship by Jesus”. Click here to go back to the introduction to this lesson.

If we were to tell someone about Jesus, what would we say that could make someone interested in following Him?

The title above poses the greatest question the world has seen. I believe that Jesus is the answer, and have been thinking about how He is the answer to absolutely every problem that this world has seen, and is the ultimate fulfilment of every person’s true desires. He is the author of all that is good, and is the very essence of Love. Jesus is not someone who is just ‘very loving’, He is love itself.

So, how is Jesus the Answer, and how is He relevant to those we work and play and eat with and love?

Well for starters…

To the greenie, Jesus is the architect of all living things, plants and creatures. The One who has entrusted them to our caring stewardship (Gen 1).

To the investment banker, Jesus is the way to true fulfilment and satisfaction in our life’s work when it is centred in Him (John 10:10).

To those suffering in broken relationships, Jesus is the man of sorrows (Isa 53), acquainted with our grief, yet showing the way to a future where there is no more tears (Rev 21).

To the bored person, Jesus is the source of all that is awe-inspiring in this world, the Person who never tires of the wonder of creating.

To the those that love science, Jesus is the ‘Light of the world’ (John 1), the one who counts the Universe rightly as the ‘work of His fingers’ (Ps 8).

To those in war ravaged lands, Jesus is the Prince of Peace, the one who can bring peace to the soul in the middle of chaos, and ultimate peace when sin is eradicated at the end of time.

How about you, what aspects of Jesus’ personality do you find wonderful, and can share with others with genuine enthusiasm?
